I’m Dani and I’ve been an avid reader (and writer) for nearly my whole life. A set of Bible story books that my dad and I would read together really started my love of stories.
When I was an angsty teenager I began writing short stories and then came the years … and years… of poetry. I am grateful that I still have the majority of what I’ve ever written and I’m sure I’ll share some of it here in later posts.
As a reader, my tastes quickly expanded from the childhood Goosebumps and RL Stine obsessions to Canadian short stories, weird as hell VC Andrews (IYKYK) and then I got into Dean Koontz and Stephen King.
Later, a teacher recommended Kathy Reichs to me when he learned that I had a huge fascination with Iris Johansen’s writing. My entire future career was planned out thanks to Iris’ content and character background. Physical Anthropology was calling my name!
These authors were my safety net for some very important and significant years of my life.
But then fantasy books crept into my life… like a cat upon prey. I fell in love with Lord of the Rings, later Harry Potter and then anything and everything Neil Gaiman.
Fantasy fiction is home for me now, having welcomed me into every delicious story and poem.

Being an aspiring writer (I have a fiction novel that I have started many moons ago and hope to finish and publish) and collector of books, you can expect to see a lot of book reviews, content about what I’m working on and my adventures as a single mom who has gotten back into read on a daily basis x
